What types of braces are available?

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are a popular orthodontic choice, and are one of the most common types of braces offered today. Today’s metal braces design provides more comfort using the latest technology. Traditional braces provide the ability to really control the teeth and move them into place. They are made of stainless steel or titanium, and are extremely durable.

Self-Ligating Braces

Self-Ligating Braces are similar to traditional metal braces, but they do not use elastics. This type of brace uses special brackets or clips that help to move your teeth into place. The design helps to reduce discomfort and the amount of pressure that is placed on your teeth. Self-Ligating braces tend to be more comfortable compared to other options, and can be used with metal, ceramic, or clear brackets.

Clear (ceramic) Braces

Clear braces are designed similarly to metal braces, but give patients an alternative treatment. They are discrete and are the color of your natural teeth. Ceramic braces are made out of aluminum, and have bigger brackets compared to other braces. Ceramic braces provide the same results as metal braces, and are a great option for both children and adults.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners or Invisalign are trays made out of acrylic to gently move teeth into place. This type of treatment produces the same results as traditional braces. The aligners can be easily removed for eating or drinking, sports, and cleaning. This option is discrete and is popular for both adults and teenagers. The aligners are comfortable and smooth, and do not irritate the mouth or gums.
